Dr Dorota Pikuła from the Department of Plant Nutrition and Fertilization visited the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra (1- 29 November 2010).

During the stay in the Slovak University of Agriculture Dorota Pikuła collaborated with doc. Ing. Juraj Chlpík PhD., and doc. Ing. Nora Polláková, PhD. She gained theoretical knowledge about selected methods of soil organic carbon analyses and changed experiences in this spehare. She practised fractionation of soil organic matter according to Kononova-Belchikova method, labile organic carbon by KMnO4 oxidation procedure, and hot water soluble carbon. She had the opportunity to improve her knowledge of making the balance of organic matter used in the long term field experiment as well and to learn more about the principles of building and managing databases of the post harvest plant residues. She acquired experience and skills indispensable to her for future scientific work in IUNG.
