Dr Andrzej Zaliwski from the Department of Agrometeorology and Applied Informatics visited the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development of the AUA Agricultural University of Athens, Greece (1 May - 31 October 2011).

He had the opportunity to become acquainted with the Web DSS for bio-energy projects evaluation developed at the AUA. The DSS makes it possible to evaluate the biomass-production penetration into the existing agricultural systems. The system has been installed on a server in IUNG-PIB. It will be adapted to Polish conditions through constructing databases with Polish data. The Web DSS was presented at the V International Scientific Symposium “Farm machinery and process management in sustainable agriculture”, at the University of Life Sciences in Lublin, 23-24 Nov. 2011 in the presentation: Rozakis S., Zaliwski A.S. “Web DSS for bio-energy projects evaluation”. During his stay Dr Zaliwski also elaborated the article “Biomass supply for co-firing in main-network power stations in Poland”, sent to the “Biomass and Bioenergy” periodical (currently under review).
