M.Sc. Łukasz Pecio from the Department of Biochemistry and Crop Quality visited the Department of Organic Chemistry of the University of Cadiz, Spain (9 January – 4 April 2012).

During the stay he studied theoretical and practical aspects of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (NMR) and structure elucidation of plant secondary metabolites using the 1D and 2D NMR techniques. He assisted in NMR experiments and performed structure elucidation of about 60 compounds (e.g. saponins and flavonoids) from four different plants (Trifolium medium, Knautia arvensis, Triticum aestivum and Saponaria officinalis). Results of those analyses will be used in further work in IUNG.
